911 Calls Released in I-95 Wrong-Way Wreck That Killed 5

Authorities have released the calls for help from drivers who saw a pickup truck headed the wrong way on I-95 last week in a crash that killed five people in Miami-Dade.

The crash occurred just before 1 a.m. Dec. 30 on I-95 northbound near Miami Gardens Drive. Police said a woman plowed into a car head-on in the northbound express lanes.

The woman was killed in the impact, along with four family members traveling together in another vehicle. The lucky people who avoided the impact called 911.

"There's a guy driving southbound on the northbound side just past Ives Dairy," one caller says.

"I'm calling regarding a car driving the wrong direction," another caller tells the 911 operator.

"Yes, we're on our way to get it," the operator replies.

"Ok, perfect, thank you, because I almost crashed into this car," the driver said.

There's no word on what caused the woman to drive the wrong way. The investigation is ongoing.
