AK-47 Rifles Will Soon Be Made in Pompano Beach

The AK-47 is finding a new manufacturing spot in South Florida, after Kalashnikov USA was approved to assemble the famous rifles in Pompano Beach.

The company received "light manufacturing" approval in July 2015 from the city, according to CNN Money.

Kalashnikov USA's licenses won't allow the company to make ammunition or sell guns in Pompano Beach, the report said.

The company had imported the rifles from the original manufacturer in Moscow until President Obama imposed sanctions against against Russia in 2014 following the annexation of Crimea.

Last year, the company began making the rifles in Pennsylvania but decided to move to South Florida. The company didn't say how big the Pompano Beach operation would be.
