AR-15, Ammo Stolen During Burglary of Marked North Miami Beach Police Car

Authorities are investigating after an AR-15 rifle and several ammunition magazines were stolen during a burglary of a marked North Miami Beach Police vehicle.

The burglary happened either late Saturday or early Sunday as the Ford Explorer was parked in the 2800 block of Pine Tree Drive in Miami Beach, according to a police incident report.

The report said the Explorer's passenger and driver's side windows were broken and the fully-automatic AR-15 was taken from a lockbox that was in the vehicle's trunk. Six fully loaded magazines for the rile were also stolen, along with three loaded magazines for a Glock .45, an olive green tactical vest and the officer's IBM Thinkpad computer.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
