Abducted SoFla Mother & 3 Children Found

Police: mom and kids taken from Fort Lauderdale home found safe

A man is in custody after police say he abducted a mother and her three children from their Fort Lauderdale home Wednesday night.

Police say 20-year-old Santos Deysi Ortiz-Gomes and her three young children -- ages one to four -- were taken from their home in the 100 block of Northwest 69th St. shortly before 9 p.m. by 26-year-old Luis Medardo Ramos.

Ramos, the father of two of the children, allegedly bound Ortiz-Gomes' hands and put her in his car, then escorted the three kids into the vehicle, a silver Chevrolet 4-door Impala with Texas plates.

Neighbors saw the mother being taken and called police. An Amber Alert was issued and the car was stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol over three hours later in Volusia County.

Ramos was arrested, and Ortiz-Gomes and the children were found unharmed.
