Accomplice Arrested In Lauderdale Lakes Sexual Battery: BSO

Authorities said both men arrested in connection to the crime have criminal histories

A second man was arrested and faces charges for the sexual battery of a woman in Lauderdale Lakes, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Jonathan Carter, 21, turned himself in to authorities on Thursday after a family member identified him as a friend of the first man who was arrested in connection to the incident, Christopher Baker, 24.

The sheriff's office said both men admitted being involved and Baker was taken into custody on Feb. 23.

Surveillance video showed both of them leaving One United Bank at 2412 N. State Road 7 on Feb. 9.

A woman had been walking on State Road 7 around 5:30 a.m. in order to get a ride to work from a co-worker.  Two men approached her, one on a bike and the other by foot, authorities said. One of them brandished a weapon at her and forced her into the bushes near the drive through area of the bank, the sheriff's office said.

The other man hit and choked her and then they both sexually battered her and took her phone and purse, authorities said.

They both face charges including sexual battery and robbery.

Authorities said both men have criminal histories.
