‘Very Sad': Adult, 4 Children Hospitalized After Car Crashes Into Tree in Opa-Locka

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said one adult and four children have been hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Opa-locka on Saturday night.

The adult and children were air rescued from the scene at NW 27th Avenue and 151st Street.

“It’s very sad. Very sad," Martell Williams, a witness who tried to help, told NBC 6. “I tried to open the car door but there was too much bees. I couldn't do anything. I got stung by bees in my head.”

Williams heard what he described as an explosion. He turned his car around to try to help.

“It was very hard. It was emotional because I got kids – and those are life," Williams said.

The driver's sister, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke with NBC 6 exclusively.

"We don't know what happened. But we're thinking that maybe the rain caused the crash, but we don't know," said the victim's sister.

The sister identified the driver as 28-year-old Dyemond Luchi. Police have not confirmed that information.

The sister says Luchi underwent surgery Sunday morning and the procedure went well. But pointed out that the mother of three is not out of the woods yet.

"She's still in critical condition. But we're just hoping that she gets better soon," said the sister.

The sister and several other family members confirmed to NBC 6 that her daughters are seven and eight-years-old. Her son is three and the small cousin is nine. The relatives said although the children were injured, they're expected to be okay.

"One has a broken leg, one has a broken jaw. They're all in stable condition, though."

Opa-Locka Police have not said what caused the accident, nor have they released any other details. Meanwhile, the sister says they are focused on one thing.

"It's a very big family," said the sister. "We're all just praying and staying by her side until she gets better."
