After Anthem Protest, Police Unions Tell Members to Return Dolphins Tickets

Police unions in South Florida have urged its members to return Miami Dolphins tickets for refunds as a result of two players kneeling during the national anthem at Thursday's preseason game.

Receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson kneeled behind teammates during the anthem at the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Defensive end Robert Quinn stood and raised his right fist.

The Broward County Police Benevolent Associated expressed its dismay in a Facebook post on Friday, calling for members to request refunds for the game and cutting off its partnership for discounted tickets with the Dolphins.

"If you have already purchased tickets to this game, we encourage you to call the Dolphins ticket office to request a refund because this organization obviously DOES NOT honor First Responders and the dangers they put themselves in every day," the post reads.

The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association echoed the post on its own Facebook page on Friday.

NFL players demonstrated during the national anthem at several preseason games Thursday night, drawing criticism from even President Donald Trump, who tweeted: "The NFL players are at it again - taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem. Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their 'outrage' at something that most of them are unable to define. They make a fortune doing what they love......"
