Air Yeezy 2's Under Lock and Key at South Beach Sneaker Spot

The much-hyped shoes designed by Kanye West debut Saturday

If the number of phone calls is any indication, South Beach's Soles Inc. sneaker store can expecting a crush of customers in its stores Saturday for the sale of Nike's Air Yeezy 2's, designed by rap star Kanye West.

"I've been getting calls since about two weeks ago, and today, I got around 300 phone calls for these sneakers," said Felipe Valencia, who works in the store.

The shoes are being kept under lock and key ahead of Saturday's big sell.

The lucky customers followed Soles on Twitter, and entered a contest to earn their chance to buy the sneakers.

"Today, about an hour ago, the email dropped, so congratulations to who ever gets a confirmation, and if not, next year I guess? I don't know," said Crystalie Merino.

There has been major hype surrounding the shoes. A pair popped up on eBay earlier this week and sold for $90,300.

The Yeezy 2's feature anaconda-textured leather, a spiked back end, and glow-in-the-dark soles with a signature front strap.

Nike says West was very thoughtful about the sneakers, choosing to focus on a more ergonomic form based on his own foot.

The shoes are being called among the most anticipated ever, and that wait will extend until Saturday at Soles.

"We got 'em locked up, sealed. Ain't no one taking them, if you ain't gettin' 'em, you ain't gettin' 'em. Hopefully, you get 'em. If you don't, it sucks," Valencia said.
