Airborne Nissan Smashed Into Side of Miami Gardens Car Wash: Surveillance Video

"He flew on top of that wall in the tree," said the owner of LuLu's car wash on NW 27th Avenue

A white Nissan Maxima sped through the front fence of a Miami Gardens car wash before going airborne and smashing into the side of the building, surveillance video shows.

"He flew on top of that wall in the tree," said Lourdes Wydra, the owner of LuLu’s car wash at 17551 NW 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens.

The video, taken just before 1 a.m., shows a powerful crash. Smoke filled the frame after the impact as witnesses rushed to help the driver.

One witness, who did not want to give her name, said she thought the driver must have been killed when she saw the Nissan go airborne through the fence of the car wash and into the concrete wall.

“He has to be dead, he just has to be dead,” she recalled thinking. “But when he helped himself out of that window, I was like, it was nothing but God, because it’s no way he should have climbed out that window without them having to cut him out of that car.”

He was eventually airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol did not release any details about the driver Monday.

Wydra said she believes the accident could have been much worse if it had happened during business hours.

"They were very lucky that there nobody walking at that time either, and that we weren't open at that time,” she said.
