Almost 30 Firefighters Battled Northwest Miami House Fire: Authorities

The American Red Cross is expected to provide assistance to those affected.

As many as 30 firefighters and eight fire trucks were at the scene of a house fire Saturday afternoon after a fire broke out in the backyard of a two-story Miami house, authorities said.

City of Miami Fire was alerted to the incident after neighbors called complaining of flames in a yard located on the 5700 block of Northwest 5th Court. Miami Fire spokesman Iggy Carroll Jr. said a grandfather and two other men were pulled out of the fire.

Fire Causes Heavy Damage at Freddie's Anchor Bar in Fort Lauderdale

One firefighter sustained burns in the fire, but was not transported to a hospital. Carroll Jr. told NBC 6 South Florida that the fire, which produced heavy flames and smoke, was a challenge to access.

The fire caused damage to the neighboring home and displaced five adults and a 3-year-old child.

The American Red Cross is will provide assistance.
