Miami lady, 56, jumps from moving car after crook abducts her

A 56-year-old woman had to leap for her life from a moving car in Miami this morning after a thief forced her into her vehicle so he could rob her, police said.

Constance Russell wound up in the hospital after a frightening encounter with a crook outside an ATM at the Chase Bank at 5800 NW 7 Ave. just before 6 a.m., City of Miami police said.

Russell was returning to her car after finding Chase's ATM not working where she was confronted by a man dressed in all black who shoved an unidentified object into her back and forced her into the passenger side of her Buick Rendezvous.

The suspect got behind the wheel, telling Russell that they were driving to another ATM so he could rob her.

They didn't get very far, however, because as the suspect was driving the car, Russell grabbed her purse and bailed as the vehicle moved along NW 10th Ave. and 54th St.

The quick-thinking Russell was taken to Veteran's Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The car was found abandoned a short time later.

Police are stiil looking for the suspect, described only as a black male wearing all black.
