Days before the upcoming presidential debate, Republican first lady hopeful Ann Romney visited a Fort Lauderdale Cuban restaurant to greet volunteers and supporters.
“We are here because we believe in America, we believe that we can do better, that these four years have been very hard on a lot of Americans,” she told a table of guests at Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine Saturday. “He’s the right man, the right time.”

Romney also talked about her family's confidence building up to the Nov. 6 election. She said support her sons have received at political rallies assured them their father would be victorious.
“They say that’s why we’re going to win. Because it’s the momentum, the excitement,” she said. “The enthusiasm is on our side this time. So, we’re feeling it.”
With a smile on her face, Patti Burns, a volunteer for the Romney campaign, said she was thankful for the visit.
“It makes you want to go back and make 1,000 more phone calls every minute,” the Fort Lauderdale woman said. “I mean, it just really pumps you up to know that someone cares enough to take their time to spend it with you, and lets you know how much they appreciate you as volunteers.”

Fourteen-year-old Marcus Mickey, who said he's been devoting his time to the campaign for about a month now, also got the chance to chat with Romney.
“She is such an inspiration to me, not only because I’m underage and I can’t vote yet, but because she’s an inspiration to every woman out there,” he said. “My grandmother had breast cancer and she’s such an inspiration and it proves that life is well and God is good.”
Romney is a breast cancer survivor, but on Saturday, she shared conversation about her 15-year battle with multiple sclerosis.
“I was trying to figure out what was going on, what was wrong with me,” she said. “I was very coordinated and athletic, and all of a sudden, I’m falling and tripping and losing my balance and being so weak. I was like, ‘Something’s wrong.’ That’s when I called my brother.”
Romney was expected to speak at a Boca Raton rally later Saturday, the location she and her husband Mitt Romney will be for Monday night's debate at Lynn University.
“She’s very, very down to earth, very, very personable, very, very committed to this campaign, to her husband and especially to this county,” Burns said.
