Anti-Gay Slurs Spray Painted at Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School

Authorities are investigating an act of vandalism in which several anti-gay images and slurs were spray painted in the halls and parking lot of Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches.

Several students posted the images to social media including Snapchat after discovering them Monday morning.

The school is located at 5451 South Flamingo Road in Southwest Ranches.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Miami confirmed the vandalism was discovered early Monday morning and that police have been contacted.

The vandalized areas have since been cleaned up, and the case has been turned over to Davie Police.

Some students are blaming a rival high school that lost a recent basketball game.

Police said it is not a hate crime but they're looking into a rival school.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
