Archbishop McCarthy High Principal Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge

The principal of Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches was arrested on a domestic violence/battery charge Tuesday, authorities said.

Richard Jean, 50, was booked into jail following his arrest in Miramar, Broward County jail records showed.

An arrest report said Jean had been involved in a physical altercation at a home with another male, who claimed Jean grabbed him and threw him to the ground.

The male told officers he ran from the home in fear and Jean drove around looking for him, the report said.

An officer noted in the report that the victim had bruising on his neck and blood in his right ear.

The Archdiocese of Miami released a statement confirming the arrest.

"He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the Miramar Police Department's investigation. Details of the arrest are vague at this moment," the statement read.

Jean was being held without bond, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
