Armed Robbers Terrorize Miami Neighborhood

Three home invasions within minutes of each other in same neighborhood

Police are investigating three cases of overnight armed robberies happening within minutes of each other in the same Miami neighborhood.

At least one person was taken into custody after police say he was seen leaving the scene of one of the robberies.

The first incident happened around midnight in the 100 block of Northwest 29th Street, when a group of thieves forced their way into a home at gunpoint. Police say they targeted flat screen TVs, iPads and laptops.

Minutes after the first home invasion, the suspects struck at a home in the 1000 block of Northwest 33rd Street, then struck at a home in the 500 block of Northwest 34th Street.

Police say the robbers targeted victims who were standing outside their homes, and that the suspects matched descriptions in all three cases.

The person was taken into custody after police say he was seen leaving one of the homes in a silver Ford Focus. The driver ditched the car on Northwest 62nd Street before running into an alley and trying to hide inside an apartment on Northwest 61st Street, police said.

"They threw us outside, like in the grass, they told us if we call the cops, they were going to kill us," said one victim, who didn't want to be identified. "It was scary because I thought they were going to kill us."

At least one of the robbers may still be on the loose, police said.
