Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested: Miami-Dade Police

Four suspects are in custody after shots were fired during an armed robbery in southwest Miami-Dade early Monday, police said.

The robbery happened around 12:45 a.m. at an apartment complex at 21160 Southwest 112th Avenue, Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said.

Officers responded to the complex after receiving a call of shots fired during a robbery involving multiple suspects, Zabaleta said.

Police said a couple was walking home when they were ambushed by the suspects, who robbed them at gunpoint.

"They came with 9 millimeters, each one of them," victim Joe Anderson said. "My old lady went running up the steps and one of them said 'don't move or I'll shoot you.'"

Anderson said one of the suspects stayed behind to kill him.

“I ducked down right here and the next thing you know the 3rd robber came around and said 'what are you doing?'" Anderson said. "I said 'they got everything' and then his gun jammed.”

The victims, who weren't injured, were able to give police a description of the vehicle the suspects fled in, and a "Be On The Lookout" was issued, Zabaleta said.

A short time later, officers spotted the car in the area of Southwest 216th Street and Old Cutler Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the four suspects were taken into custody without incident, Zabaleta said.

The suspects haven't been identified and it's unknown what charges they'll face.
