Armed Robbery at Oakland Park Subway Caught on Camera

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating an armed robbery at an Oakland Park Subway restaurant.

Officers said an employee got ambushed by a masked man armed with a handgun around 1:20 a.m. Sunday.

The restaurant is located in the 4900 block of North Andrews Avenue.

BSO said the female employee had just taken out the trash when the suspect came through the back door. He allegedly pointed a revolver at the woman and demanded money.

"He didn't physically attack her, but he did hold the gun to her various times during the crime and threatened her life. She was obviously very terrified during the entire encounter," said Gina Carter with BSO.

The suspect took the nightly deposit and then had the woman empty her purse. She complied, but the suspect did not take any of her personal belongings.

On his way out, BSO said the suspect noticed a customer's car in the restaurant's parking lot.

"When he was making his escape, he realized some customers were pulling into the parking lot. He took that opportunity to further threaten her and tell her if she had someone waiting for her outside that he would kill her," Carter explained.

Detectives are searching for an adult male with a dark complexion and a thin build. He is approximately 5'10" and 175 pounds. He wore black pants, a blue cotton sweatshirt with a hood and the word "Ranger" on the back in yellow, and purple gloves.

He covered his face with a black cloth and threatened the victim with a silver revolver.
