Arrest Made After Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Miami Beach

Police have one person in custody after a deadly hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning in Miami Beach.

Officers responded to the initial scene near 15th Street and Alton Road, where a male victim was struck and killed in the middle of the intersection just after 3 a.m.

A short time later, police were able to locate the vehicle and take the driver of the white Volkswagen involved in the crash into custody near the intersection of 59th Street and Collins Avenue.

Officers arrested 37-year-old Volodymyr Shyshko and charged him with several counts, including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

According to an arrest report, Shyshko had bloodshot and watery eyes, and an odor of alcohol coming from his breath.

Shyshko was booked into jail, where he was being held on $4,500 bond Thursday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available. 

Officials have not released the name of the victim at this time.
