Arsenal of Weapons Found in Home Where North Miami Beach Cop Was Shot: Police

A SWAT team responding to a home where a North Miami Beach Police officer was shot while carrying out a search warrant in February discovered an arsenal of weapons, including a high-powered assault rifle and clips for automatic weapons, officials said Thursday.

NBC 6 got an exclusive look at the photos of the weaponry found in the home of Elton Bandoo, the man charged with shooting officer Lino Diaz.

The photos show several weapons including high-powered assault rifles, handguns and clips for automatic weapons that can hold multiple rounds. One weapon in a drawer had what looked like a makeshift silencer taped to the front of it.

In all about 30 weapons were found inside the property. Officials said they knew there were weapons in the home but feel fortunate more officers weren't hurt.

Diaz and fellow officers were serving a federal search warrant for identity fraud at Bandoo's home back on Feb 6. when he was shot in the arm and leg. He was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital days after having surgery.

Bandoo, 26, claims he thought he was being robbed when he opened fire. He's charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and is seeking to be released on bond.

Brandoo appeared in court Thursday hoping a judge will allow him to post a bond. A decision is expected April 13.
