Art Basel 2018: Traffic Problems, Delays Expected in Miami-Dade

Thousands of art enthusiasts will flood into Miami-Dade County as Art Basel in Miami Beach kicks off on Thursday – possibly causing havoc on the roads.

As in previous years, officials are advising motorists to prepare for possible delays and to seek alternate routes when traveling to the area.

The use of ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft is encouraged.

The free Art Week shuttle service will operate from Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., running at a frequency of approximately 20 minutes.

Art Week Shuttle routes and stops:

Art Basel Miami Beach at the Miami Beach Convention Center

  • Washington Avenue just south of 18 Street (southbound)
  • Washington Avenue just north of 18 Street (northbound)

PULSE Miami Beach

  • 4525 Collins Avenue

Scope Art Fair, Superfine and Untitled Art Fair

  • Ocean Drive between 9 and 10 streets

Public Transportation:

Metrorail, Metromover and Metrobus, which will all have normal weekend service and an increased number of buses and trains during events.

Miami Beach will run its free trolley service from 8 a.m. to midnight from until Saturday and from 8 a.m. until midnight on Sunday. Click here for a full list of routes.

Ground Transportation from MIA airport:

Express Bus

Miami Beach Airport Flyer express bus (Route 150), runs between MIA and Miami Beach. Passengers board the bus at the MIA Metrobus Station.

SuperShuttle

Blue SuperShuttle vans are available on the arrival level of the airport, outside the baggage claim areas.
