Asian Water Buffalo Escape After Someone Cuts a Hole in Fence

Who let the water buffalo out? That's what the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to help them figure out.

The sheriff's office said that on June 21, they responded to a call in Punta Gorda, in southwest Florida, about a report of loose cattle.

Apparently, someone had the fence in two places, and each hole was within 100 yards of each other in order to allow the buffalo to escape.

The buffalo crossed a busy road during rush hour, but authorities were able to contain them in a nearby field.

In Florida, it is a felony to break, cut, or injure a fence containing animals.

Anyone with information about the perpetrators should call (941) 505-4638.
