Authorities are investigating a fatal police-involved shooting in Florida City Wednesday.
The shooting happened in the 1400 block of Northwest 2nd Avenue and involved a Florida City police officer, Miami-Dade Police officials said.
Police and family members identified him as 23-year-old Juvon Simon.
According to police, detectives were conducting a criminal investigation that led them to an apartment complex. While at the complex there was a confrontation with Simon and one of the detectives opened fire, officials said.
Simon was pronounced dead at the scene. The detectives weren't injured.
Police said Simon was armed at the time of the confrontation, and a firearm was recovered and impounded.
No other information was immediately known.
