The Broward County Sheriff's Office deputy who collapsed outside of the Main Jail Bureau has died.

Michael Ryan was admitted to Broward General Hospital after collapsing on Dec. 15 at the parking lot of the facility at 555 SE 1st Avenue.

Sources said the deputy may have been involved in some sort of foot chase before the incident.

Ryan, who graduated with the fifth BSO Corrections Academy, passed away on Sunday.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of BSO Deputy Michael Ryan ... he passed away surrounded by his immediate family," BSO said in a statement.
