BSO Said Suspect Followed Robbery Victim for 45 Minutes

A Broward County woman said she’s still terrified after detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office said a man followed her for 45 minutes before robbing her at knife point.

“It’s really scary,” the victim said. “It’s like I’m scared to leave my house and walk my dog. It’s terrible.”

According to the BSO, the victim, 26, ran into the suspect while pumping gas at a BP station on the 2500 block of Sheridan Street. The victim said she ignored the man’s advances and then went inside to withdraw money from the ATM before leaving in her car.

The BSO said she stopped at a Starbucks and then went home. Detectives said as she drove into her complex, she saw someone tailgated her through the guard gate. The victim said she parked her car and got out to take her dog for a walk.

As she walked, the man who made advances at the gas station did so again, but she told him she was married. She walked back to her car and as she got out of her car a second time, detectives said the man came towards her with a knife.

The woman screamed, which got the attention of neighbors just a few parking spots away from where the woman was being assaulted. The suspect told the neighbors they were having a fight, but neighbors said they wanted to hear from her or they would call 911.

BSO said the suspect held the woman’s head with the knife to her neck and told her to say she was his wife, but she refused.

"He has the knife at my neck, whenever I wouldn't cooperate, he wasn't pushing the knife towards my neck; he was pushying my head towards my knife," the victim said.

When the woman asked what the man wanted, BSO said the man wanted the cash from the ATM. When he was given the cash, BSO said the suspect ran off.

Detectives said the suspect is around 6 feet tall, weighs around 150 pounds, has a pointed goatee, and distinctive acne scars on his cheeks. BSO said he was seen a driving gray, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Corolla.

"I want him to go away," the victim said. "I don't want this to happen to anyone else."
