A baby was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center after the child fell through a dock when it partially collapsed in Deerfield Beach Tuesday, authorities said.
The mother was holding her 6-week-old son when some of the dock's planks gave away and he fell in the water, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.
The 41-year-old mother was able to get him out of the water. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene on the 1700 block of Southeast 5th Court, and a helicopter flew the baby to the hospital
His condition was not serious, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.
The baby, who is expected to recover, was being kept in the hospital overnight.
