The infant was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead

Authorities are investigating after a 2-month-old baby was found dead in a West Park, Florida, home Thursday afternoon.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an infant not breathing shortly after 3 p.m. When paramedics and rescue crews arrived at 4620 Southwest 22nd Street, they found the child unresponsive.

The infant was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Ashton Petion, of Hallandale Beach.

The sheriff's office said there were other toddlers and infants at the house when officers arrived.

"There were several other children in the home, infants and toddlers, and as part of the investigation, detectives will be looking to see if this was a daycare center or an unlicensed daycare center," BSO spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright said.

The child’s death is being investigated by BSO detectives. No further details were immediately available.
