A 1-month-old baby suffered head injuries during an brash abduction attempt in Homestead Wednesday, police said..

The infant was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital late yesterday after a woman grabbed her from her mother's arms outside a medical office at 45 Northwest 8th Street, police said.

The mother told police the would-be abductor ripped the child out of her arms as the mother and her two children were leaving the building and entering their car.

The suspect, identified by police as 25-year-old Shalese Nicole Mostiller, sprayed the mother in the face with an unknown substance during the abduction attempt.

Police said a witness saw the abduction take place, tracked down Mostiller, and subdued her until police arrived.

The baby is in stable condition at the hospital.

Mostiller is being held on charges of kidnapping with a weapon, armed burglary, child abuse and battery.
