Baby Rhino Born at Zoo Miami

Zoo Miami officials are welcoming the birth of a baby rhino named Aria who was born on May 25.

Aria was born weighing over 100 pounds. She is welcomed by her 14-year-old mother who was born at the Riverbanks Zoo along with her father who was born at the Cincinnati Zoo.

The baby rhino made her park debut last weeks during Zoo Miami’s “lion pride” event.

This is the 13th healthy birth at Zoo Miami for this endangered species. Black rhinos are typically  killed for their horns in some culutres for medicinal purposes and status symbols, according to Zoo Miami.

Guests are encouraged to visit Aria during normal park hours.
