Bad Babysitter: Man Passes Out Pushing Stroller With Kid and Beer in It

Marathon man arrested after taking nap on street with toddler nearby

Raymond Dascott may not have been the best choice for babysitter.

The 56-year-old Marathon man was arrested around noon Monday after he passed out on the street while pushing a toddler in a stroller, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Police say two men called 911 after they spotted Dascott laying on the ground, out cold, with a one and a half year-old child sitting unattended in the stroller next to him.

They said Dascott told them he'd been drinking too much, and when Deputy Bradford Cohen responded, he found two Keystone Ice beers in the stroller.

Cohen woke up Dascott, who stayed on the ground while he spoke. Dascott told police he had gone to the Tom Thumb food store with the child and was returning home.

He told the deputy he was "resting."

Dascott was arrested on child neglect charges, and the child's grandmother was called to the scene to bring the toddler home.
