Bandit Reynolds Gets A Road in Palm Beach

School names street for mustachioed actor

He owned the road in "Cannonball Run" and "Smokey and the Bandit," and now mustachioed actor and South Floridian Burt Reynolds will have a West Palm Beach school street named after him.

Burt Reynolds Road will be officially dedicated Wednesday during a ceremony at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Reynolds, 74, a 1954 graduate of the school when it was called Palm Beach High School, will be on hand for the event.

The street is used for student pick-up and drop-offs.

"Burt Reynolds is an outstanding example of an individual who loves his hometown, friends and in particular, the school from which he graduated," Ed Eissey, who helped raise funds for the road renaming, told the Post. "He has not forgotten the individuals that educated and supported him throughout his career."

The Burt Reynolds Museum in nearby Jupiter is touted as the largest celebrity museum in Florida.
