A man's body was found on Nov. 14 after firefighters put out flames that consumed a car in North Lauderdale.
Three suspects have been arrested for the killing of Darren Butler.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said the person arrested Wednesday after barricading in a local home is a suspect in the killing of a man whose body was found in a burning car in North Lauderdale last month.
Jeffrey Harrell, 28, was arrested after the hours-long incident in which he barricaded at the home in the area of NW 83rd Street and 5th Avenue, police said. He had been sought on an out-of-county warrant.
A SWAT team deployed to respond. Following an arrest, police confirmed that the man detained on Wednesday was Harrell – wanted since the November killing of Darren Butler.
Two other people had previously been arrested and charged with first-degree murder over Butler's death – Johntavis McCoe, 26, was arrested Nov. 21 and Rougiena Deriveire, 18, was arrested Nov. 18.
Butler's body was found the morning of Nov. 14 after firefighters responded to a car on fire at Bicentennial Park in the 6100 block of Kimberly Boulevard.
Harrell is currently in Miami-Dade County's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
