A pygmy sperm whale was found thrashing in the shallow waters near shore Monday at Ormond-by-the-Sea.
WESH-TV reported that Sea World officials could not save or transport the 10 to 12-foot-whale because it was too distressed.
The whale was euthanized by rescue crews.
Experts say whales usually beach themselves when they’re sick.
