Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Vehicle in Weston

A Weston man was struck and killed while riding his bicycle Friday in Weston.

At around 5:30 p.m., Broward Sheriff's Office emergency vehicles were dispatched to Bonaventure Boulevard, near Duval Court, after receiving reports of the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 1991 Toyota, driven by Michael Chatman, 30, was traveling southbound on Bonaventure in the right lane.

The bicyclist, Steven Caine, 51, was traveling in the same roadway and in the same direction near the right edge of the road.

BSO said the Toyota made impact with the bicycle from behind.

Fire Rescue responded and transported Caine by air to Broward Health Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. It's unclear whether he'll face any charges.
