Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Stolen Car in NW Miami-Dade

The driver who allegedly stole a car, then struck and killed a bicyclist, and fled the scene in northwest Miami-Dade has turned himself in, according to police.

He has been identified as 18-year-old Jonathan Alexander Taylor of Hialeah. He faces charges of leaving the scene with a death, vehicular homicide and not having a valid driver's license.

The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. Monday in the 5800 block of Northwest 199th Street, Miami-Dade Police said.

According to police, Taylor stole a 4-door silver Mazda 6, lost control of the car, jumped the median and struck 67-year-old Braulio Perez as he rode his bicycle.

Taylor fled the scene on foot. Perez was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where he later died.
