Biden and Sanders Lead Trump In Florida, New Poll Says

Biden holds a 50-41 percent lead over Trump, while Sanders had a 48-42 percent lead among Florida voters, according to the Quinnipiac University poll

President Donald Trump trails former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in a new poll released hours before the president was set to kick off his re-election campaign with a rally in the Sunshine State.

Biden holds a 50-41 percent lead over Trump, while Sanders had a 48-42 percent lead among Florida voters, according to the Quinnipiac University poll.

The survey said other Trump matchups against leading Democratic contenders are "too close to call," with Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Former Texas U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg all basically tied with Trump.

"Florida Republicans have won the last five major statewide elections, all by very close margins, but Sunshine State Democrats see these very early numbers as a sign that their losing streak might be coming to an end," Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.

Biden leads 58 to 34 percent among women, while men go 49 percent for Trump and 42 percent for Biden, the poll said. Trump leads 52 to 42 percent among white voters, while Biden leads 79 to 9 percent among black voters and 57 to 32 percent among Hispanic voters.

Republicans back Trump 90  to 7 percent while Biden leads 91 to 3 percent among Democrats and 54 to 32 percent among independent voters, according to the poll.

The poll surveyed 1,279 Florida voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 percentage points.

Trump was traveling to Florida Tuesday to attend a campaign kickoff rally in Orlando.
