Body Found Floating in Biscayne Bay Near Miami Park

Investigators pulled a man's body out of the waters of Biscayne Bay early Monday morning.

Police received a call from a woman around 3 a.m. of a body floating in Biscayne Bay near the entrance or Morningside Park in Miami.

Wendy Spears passes by Morningside Park daily with her two dogs.

"I walk every morning," Spears said. "It makes me a little more vigilant and conscious of your surroundings."

Investigators described the case as an active homicide investigation.

"Sad that it would happen in general, but sad that it's in this area," said Spears.

Detectives interviewed a woman we spotted standing on the sea-wall. She reportedly discovered the body.

Detectives are now tasked with filling in the blanks.

In the meantime, Spears says regular overnight patrols of neighborhood offer peace of mind.

"I don't feel unsafe, I must say that," Spears said. "This is a very safe neighborhood."

This is the second incident of a body recovered in Biscayne Bay since Sunday. Authorities recovered the body of a 22-year-old boater who went missing.

The investigation is ongoing.
