Body Found in Desolate Area of Lauderhill; Investigation Underway

Police are searching for clues in a death investigation that took place in Lauderhill.

According to investigators, a body was found by a passenger of a vehicle that drove by around 5 p.m. Sunday. The corpse had no bullet holes, knife wounds or obvious signs of trauma, officials said. They went on to say that the body was found in an unlikely place for pedestrians to be.

The victim is said to be a man in his mid to late 30s. He was found before 5 p.m. Sunday lying face down and shirtless on Rock Island Road near 44th Street.

"The police department arrived on scene to find a black male, in fact, lying on the side of the road and was not breathing or responsive," said Lt. Mike Santiago of the Lauderhill Police Department.

It’s a mystery to police how the man could have ended up in the area east of the Inverrary Country Club, which is cut off to pedestrian traffic.

"There’s nothing to indicate any abuse or any type of injury to the individual as of right now,” said Lt. Santiago. "Again, the person was found face down between the railing and the fence along Rock Island Road on the 4200 block, between the country club and the Turnpike, so where the body was actually found is somewhat of a desolate area."

Police say they need the public’s help. Anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious, such as a car stopped on the side of the road, are urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
