Body Found in Matheson Hammock Marina is Missing Boater: MDPD

A body found in the bay area of Matheson Hammock Marina early Tuesday has been positively identified as a woman who went missing while boating over the weekend.

Tuesday evening, the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the body found in the area is that of 26-year-old Lauren Jenee Lamar. Earlier Tuesday, Lamar's family also confirmed it is her body, First Coast News reported.

Lamar went missing during a boating trip with two friends over the Memorial Day weekend near the area of Matheson Hammock Marina.

Coast Guard crews and police spent Monday searching a three mile stretch of Biscayne Bay for Lamar, who has been missing since 11 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the driver of the boat, Russell Bruce pulled up to the dock Sunday night with another woman, Alicia Bartolota, and then noticed Lamar was not on board.

He told police he thought she was sleeping in the small cabin inside the thirty foot vessel.

Lamar is from Jacksonville and was working as an event promoter on Miami Beach.

"Working late, trying to network, meet new people," manager Charles Mayer said of Lamar. "Come in and light up the room, interact with anyone, start a conversation."

Officials said more than 100 square miles were searched over a period of 35 hours.

Lamar's family was heading to Miami from Jacksonville Tuesday. Her death remains under investigation.
