Body Pulled Out of Pembroke Pines Lake: Police

A body was pulled out of a Pembroke Pines lake Friday after it appeared to have been in the water for a “significant amount of time,” police said.

A blue tarp could be seen from Southwest 182nd Way around 4 p.m. as fire crews, crime scene investigators and divers were on hand trying to figure who was in the water and how the decomposing body got there.

Neighbors said the body was found near a concrete slab where they have seen people fish before.

Neighbors looked on with concern.

"I've never heard of a murder around here before, that's for sure,” one man said.

Another neighbor said the area is calm and full of families – nothing out of the ordinary.

"It's very sad. I'm very surprised. I don't know what happened,” he told Telemundo 51 in Spanish. “It could be an accident. If it is an accident, then this is a big accident."

Police and the medical examiner will look over the body to determine how the person died, and their identity.
