Boy Who Reported Sex at Allapattah Middle School Beat Up By Students

Five Allapattah Middle School students who beat up a classmate who reported seeing other students engaging in a sexual act at the school are facing battery charges, officials said.

The five students were arrested by Miami-Dade Schools Police and are charged with attempted aggravated battery, Miami-Dade Public Schools spokeswoman Daisy Gonzalez-Diego said Monday.

They have been suspended with a recommendation for expulsion, Gonzalez-Diego said.

Gonzalez-Diego said the student witnessed two teens engaged in "inappropriate consensual activity" at the school and reported it on Friday. He was physically injured in an assault by the five classmates.

"Our school district has zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior of any kind and we commend the student who came forward to report the incident," Gonzalez-Diego said.

Three students were arrested Friday and two were arrested Monday, officials said. School board officials said they're looking for a sixth student who may be a suspect in the incident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
