Boyfriend Charged in Coral Springs Woman's Murder Pleads Not Guilty

A Coral Springs man charged with killing his live-in girlfriend pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge Tuesday morning.

Enrique Macotela, 43, was arrested earlier this month in the killing of 38-year-old Magdalena Weich, whose body was found in a wooded area near Coral Springs High School in August.

Macotela remains behind bars without bond. His next hearing is set for February.

According to a police report, Macotela called Weich's boss to say she was sick and couldn't come to work. He later reported her missing, police said.

Coral Springs Police said he was allegedly driving in the area where Weich's body was found. Police haven't said how she was killed.

The couple's four-year-old child was placed in DCF custody after Macotela's arrest.
