Officers arrested a man Sunday in Boynton Beach they say shot and killed two people inside a home on New Year's Eve.
Joseph Burney was taken into custody and charged with two counts of first degree murder and a count of armed robbery, according to NBC affiliate WPTV. He was denied bond during a Monday court appearance.
Police say the shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. and that the victims were shot multiple times. Burney told officers he sold the victims marijuana in the past and confronted them Sunday for money he claims they owed for the drugs.
Burney said one of the victims pulled out a sub-machine gun, so he pulled out his weapon and opened fire. Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies have not confirmed any of those details.
