Drug-Addicted Mom Abuses Child by Breastfeeding

Mother arrested after infant tests positive for cocaine, Oxycodone

A South Florida mom has found herself behind bars after police say her young baby ingested drugs through breastfeeding.

Christen Rando, 27, was arrested in West Palm Beach after her infant was screened and tested positive for traces of cocaine and oxycodone.

Rando had called the Department of Children and Family Services to say she was concerned that her drug addiction would be harmful to her baby especially when she was breastfeeding.

A positive test at the Jupiter Hospital confirmed her concerns, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff was concerned, too. Deputies arrested Rando and charged her with child neglect.

The baby is now in foster care hopefully being fed with cocaine-free formula.
