British Teen Found With Drugs in Cake Mix Boxes Sentenced

Ayesha Olivia Niles was sentenced as a first time offender, said her attorney Robert Lamons.

A British teen arrested at the Miami International Airport with 30 pounds of cocaine hidden in cake mix boxes was sentenced to 364 days in jail on Monday, her attorney said.

Ayesha Olivia Niles was sentenced as a youth, first time offender, said her attorney Robert Lamons. He said she will get credit for time served from when she was arrested on Oct. 21 on a flight from Jamaica.

She pleaded guilty to cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to traffic cocaine, The Miami Herald reported.

Federal agents said they found the drugs stuffed into 24 boxes of cake mix in her suitcase while she was going through customs.

Niles claimed she didn't know what the substance was but said β€œshe suspected that the activity she was involved in was suspicious but she did not question it," according to a Miami-Dade Police arrest report.

Miami-Dade Police Maj. Charles Nanney said it's rare to find people transporting such a large amount of drugs at the airport, especially a young girl.
