Robber Snatches Cellphone From Broward Bus Passenger

Police are hoping clear surveillance video will help them find the person who suddenly snatched a man's cellphone from his hands while on a bus in Broward County.

The crime happened on Jan. 14 at the bus stop at NW 27th Avenue and NW 12th Court, just west of Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

The video released by the BSO Thursday shows the moments leading up to the robbery by sudden snatching. The victim was wearing headphones and watching a video on his iPhone while riding the Broward County transit bus.

The suspect, in a green University of Miami hoodie, is sitting close by. He stands up to get off the bus and becomes frustrated when the rear doors won't open.

When the doors finally open, the suspect grabs the victim's iPhone from his grasp in just a flash and runs away. The victim runs after him, but he's too fast to catch.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5-foot-10 with a thin build and in his 20's.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
