Cow Attacks Camel at Zoo Miami

Asian bovine escapes enclosure, confronts camel

A camel is licking his wounds after a confrontation with a curious cow at Zoo Miami Thursday.

Zoo officials say a male Gaur, an Asian member of the bovine family, managed to escape its enclosure and wandered into a camel exhibit around 10:30 a.m.

A brief confrontation ensued and the camel wound up injured.

The 1,200-pound cow was contained just before 11 a.m. after zoo officials briefly put the park on lockdown. No workers or parkgoers were injured.

The camel is being treated and is expected to be OK, zoo spokesman Ron Magill said.
