Cancer Survivor Creates ‘Chemo Kits' For Children Dealing With Treatments

She survived cancer - and now, she is visiting cancer patients to give them hope and a smile.

Gisenia Reyes has gifted 50 chemo kits to children battling cancer at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. One by one, Reyes greets them with a smile.

“We have items that are inspirational, practical and educational items,” Reyes, a leukemia survivor, said. “We have activity items to keep the cancer patients busy because cancer treatment process is a long and grueling one.”

“As I went through this, I realized we can do something especially during such a tough season in a cancer patients life to be able to come into a room and light them up with it,” said the founder of We Care Chemo Kits.

Her new organization was established alongside her stem cell donor, Lucy Reyes - who is also her twin sister. Head held up high, Gisenia strolls the same hospital campus where she got her treatment, but this time she’s meeting kids like Jeremy Gerrad, who shared his dreams.

“I want to become a doctor because doctors help people,” Jeremy said. “They help me get rid of my cancer.”

We Care Chemo Kits are always looking for sponsors or donations. If you have puzzles, notebooks or any inspirational gift you’d like to make for these kids in need, contact the organization at this link.
