Canes Looking to Burst Some Bubbles

Miami faces Duke on Saturday

For the majority of the ACC season, the University of Miami Hurricanes hoops team stunk.

But March Madness brings out the beast in some teams.

The Canes upset the Virginia Tech Hokies, 70-65, on Friday to keep their hopes of a NCAA Tounament bid alive, while simultaneous sending a chill down the nervous spines of teams across the country resting uncomfortably on the bubble.

It was UM's second consecutive stunner, following the Canes' dismantling of Wake Forest on Thursday. To win the ACC tourney, Miami would have to win four games in four days. The four wins would match the team's conference win total during the entire regular season.

Nothing could have signaled the canes had this time of run in them. They loss their leading scorer before the tournament began and had lost 11 of 14 games coming into the postseason.

ACC sellar dwellars during the regular season, the Canes appeared to turn a corner during their final regular season game against Florida State, a one-point loss.

Now the team looks like it is in rhythm for coach Frank Haith.

Durand Scott scored 11 of his 17 points in the final 6 minutes of Friday's victory and DeQuan Jones added 14 points for the 12th-seeded Hurricanes (20-12).

They advanced to Saturday's semifinals against top-seed and No. 4 Duke.

The Blue Devils and Coach K are clearly the class of the ACC, but when dancing shoes are on the line, Cinderella often comes out on top.

Let's go dancing.
