People Injured After Hit-and-Run Driver Crashes Into Bus Bench

A driver in a bus stop crash in Kendall that sent people to the hospital was also involved in two previous hit-and-run crashes Friday.

The third crash happened in the area of Kendall Drive and SW 77th Avenue. The driver took off from the scene but was captured nearby shortly after and was taken to the hospital.

The victims were transported as trauma alert patients, according to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The same driver was involved in two other hit-and-run crashes earlier Friday afternoon, one on Bird Road and 82nd Avenue, and one on the Palmetto Expressway near Sunset, the according to FHP. The second crash sent another person to the hospital.

John Fernandez, 42, will face charges of hit-and-run with injuries and is expected to face more. 

The FHP said he was using his mother's Prius and driving with a suspended license.

The westbound lanes of SW 88th Street were closed at SW 77th Avenue.
