Car Impaled by Tree Limb in Davie Crash: Police

A woman was rushed to the hospital Thursday after her car was impaled by a tree limb that went straight through her windshield in a crash in Davie.

The accident happened at 9:21 a.m. on Interstate 75 at Griffin Road. According to a police report, the woman was driving southbound on I-75 when, for undetermined reasons, she veered to the right, driving off the roadway on the west shoulder.

The driver struck some wood debris and rotated backwards into a tree. A limb from that tree crashed through the left rear window next to the headrest and came through the front windshield.

Aerial footage showed the seriously injured woman being taken by ambulance to Broward Health Medical Center.

Her current condition is not immediately known. The report indicates that she was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol is not a factor in the accident.
